Inge Geens DVM CertSAD MRCVS provides referral consultations in Dermatology every Wednesday. After graduating from the Ghent Veterinary School, she completed an internship at Utrecht Veterinary School. She holds the RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Dermatology. She has been providing referral dermatology services in the South East since 1994.
Feline Medicine, Endoscopy & Laparoscopy (keyhole surgery)
Elise Robertson BS BVetMed MACVSc(Feline) DipABVP(Feline) MRCVS provides endoscopy for dogs and cats and feline medical referrals. She graduated cum laude from Colorado State University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences/Anatomy and Neurophysiology. She then relocated to the UK in 1998 to attend the Royal Veterinary College, University of London and later graduated with merit in 2003. She spent the early part of her career working for busy first opinion clinics and hospitals throughout London including setting up and managing an independent surgery.After several years of extramural studies, attending numerous feline-only conferences and courses, and tutoring by a world-renowned Feline Fellow of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists, she sat the ACVSc written and oral examinations in July 2008. She was subsequently awarded Membership to the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists (MACVSc Feline Medicine).
In addition to feline medicine, she has also developed a keen interest in endoscopy as a minimally invasive diagnostic imaging tool in feline patients. She has received further training in endoscopy and 'key hole' surgery by attending Intensive and Advanced Endoscopy and Endosurgery courses from the European School of Advanced Veterinary Studies, University of Luxembourg, and Laparoscopic Masterclass Training in Paris. She is also active with an international veterinary endoscopy society promoting the use of minimally invasive procedures in the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases in our veterinary patients.
Cardiology & Respiratory
Cardio-respiratory Specialist, Babis Koffas MVB, PhD, Diplomate ECVIM-CA (Cardiology), MRCVS has been seeing cases at the Laurels on a visiting basis. Babis graduated from the Aristotle University Veterinary School (AUVS), Thessaloniki, Greece in 1998. After spending time as an intern and working in small animal practice, he completed a PhD in feline cardiomyopathies at the Royal School of Veterinary Studies at the University of Edinburgh in 2003. He then did a residency at the Royal Veterinary College in small animal cardiology and ran a busy referral clinic for cardiorespiratory disease between 2003-2006. Babis became diplomat of the European College of Internal Medicine (Cardiology) in 2007Babis is a world expert in novel echocardiographic techniques (tissue Doppler imaging), has spoken at many international veterinary congresses and acted as a reviewer for various veterinary journals. He has a particular interest in interventional animal cardiology.
